At the Huntsville City Council meeting on Monday, September 14, Mayor Dotson formally swore in the newest members of the Huntsville Youth Council, marking the start of the program’s second year.

This year’s Youth Council includes 8 new members and 4 returning members, reflecting continued student interest in civic leadership and community service. Families and city staff attended the ceremony as students took their oaths and committed to serving throughout the school year.

Mayor Dotson congratulated the group for stepping forward to represent their peers and emphasized the importance of youth voices in shaping Huntsville’s future. The Youth Council will participate in learning sessions, community projects, and discussions with city leaders on issues ranging from public safety to communication and youth programming.

The program, launched last year, continues to strengthen collaboration between the City of Huntsville and the Huntsville School District while preparing students for future roles in public service.
